Famed newspaper cartoonist Amadee Wohlschlaeger treated the world to a fabulous collection of drawings, paintings and cartoons which captured sports personalities and events for nearly 70 years. Well before there were graphics designers, Amadee was an illustrator for the daily newspaper, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and weekly national sports bible, The Sporting News. This lot celebrates the artist's craft with the tools of his trade. Included are a pewter tankard presented to him for his 75th birthday, a printing plate, a sneaker commemorating Lou Brock's 118 stolen bases in 1974, negatives, pen boxes, paint boxes, rulers and gala invitation.
