This 17x22.5" heavy cast iron fireplace screen is from the 1930's, and is of French origin. The screen, featuring Minnie Mouse, has been hand painted in red, white, and gold colors. The original paint is still on the two-sided piece. There is a great influence of Dadaism on this "anti-art", made popular by anti-war political movements, where the logic of leaders (and wealthy leaders, politicians, etc.) was rejected and chaos was embraced in many aspects of the arts. This is the only of this kind known, with one other variation known to exist. EX+
