This collection includes a nice glimpse into what Topps was offering collectors in 1962. The standard set is in, overall, VG to VG-EX condition and includes: 1 Maris (VG-EX), 5 Koufax (EX), 10 Clemente (EX), 18 Mantle/Mays (altered, the only card that stood out as such), 50 Musial (VG-EX), 199 Perry (VG), 200 Mantle (VG-EX), 300 Mays (VG-EX), 318 Mantle IA (EX), 320 Aaron (VG-EX), 360 Berra (EX-MT), 387 Brock (VG-EX), and 471 Mantle AS (EX, but a little narrow). It should also be noted that this set is littered with lesser seen variations (green tints and hats emblems). The near set of Baseball Bucks presents a much different story; it appears to be a fresh, unhandled collection. If not for the absence Mickey Mantle and Carl Yastrzemski this would be a proud “stand alone” item in any auction. Putting aside some centering issues and the requisite “crease” that they were issued with; this near set grades a strong EX-MT with many cards being suitable for grading.
