The pinnacle of athletic performance. This spectacular prize was awarded to Howard Davis at the XXI Olympiade in Montreal after defeating Romania's Simion Cutov in the final bout of the Lightweight division. Seated victory holds a laurel wreath on the face, while wreath and Olympic rings on the back share space with a personal engraving, "In Loving Memory of Catherine Davis," the boxer's mother who died just three days before this medal was won. "Boxe" is engraved on the edge, signifying the event. Amazingly, this medal was stolen in the early 1980's and recovered almost fifteen years later. Original box was not stolen and is here as well. LOA is from Howard Davis himself.
