Lelands is proud to auction this rare flannel Philadelphia Phillies jersey from Hall of Famer Robin Roberts (who recently passed away) during his last few years pitching with the Phillies, or, the "Whiz Kids", before he joined the Orioles. Roberts is the only pitcher in Major League history to have defeated the Boston Braves, the Milwaukee Braves, and the Atlanta Braves. On this jersey, "R. Roberts" is chain-stitched in the collar. The tag on the right tail reads "Wilson Sports Equipment 44 Made in U.S.A." Under this is the washing instruction tag, and below that "1958" is chained stitched on a gray felt swatch. Jersey says "Phillies" on the front in maroon and white, and there is Roberts' (retired) number "36" on the back. On the bottom front of the left tail, Robin has written in black marker, "My Gamer, 1958, Robin Roberts, HOF '76". Sweat stains around the collar, and small circular stain on the right sleeve. Roberts was a pitcher who found a way to interrupt the batters' rhythm without altering his own. He did this by devising an elaborate choreography for his mound routine, which he perfected over the years. Mears A10. Mears LOA.
