Outfielder Bill Nicholson joined the Philadelphia Phillies in 1949, and was a member of the famous Phillies Whiz Kids team that won the National League pennant in 1950. Although this jersey was made for the World Series, Nicholson did not make the post-season roster that played against the New York Yankees in the 1950 World Series. This beautiful 1950 Phillies pinstriped home jersey is made of heavy flannel and features button-front styling. It has "Phillies" across the front and the number 12 on the back in red embroidery on tackle twill. There is a black Wilson label sewn on the front left tail; to its left is a size 46 label and below it is a washing instruction label. A label reading "Nicholson" in chain stitching is sewn into the collar. There are two small stains on the front of the jersey; one is on the button placket between the third and fourth buttons, while the other is below the second "L" in Phillies. This one-of-a-kind jersey shows nice use and is a rare find in such good condition. It will make a welcome addition to any baseball collection.
