"Red" Auerbach, ex-Celtics coach, famous for smoking a cigar when he thought victory was in the bag, also enjoyed lighting up his trademark cigar in restaurants. When told by others, "You can't smoke cigars here," Auerbach opened his menu and pointed to a line at the bottom of the page which read: "No cigar or pipe smoking, except for Red Auerbach." The son of Russian Jewish immigrants, Auerbach enjoyed a successful career as a coach, and also became the first to draft an African American player, Chuck Cooper. This humidor is one of a limited edition of five. A black stamp on the inside cover reads, "Gary Scott International Incorporated." This is an incredible quality piece of rich wood with brass pulls. Box measures a weighty 24 x 16 x 10". Your cigars will remain fresh in this cedar storehouse with tray and two thermostats. Humidor can fit hundreds upon hundreds of cigars inside. The lid is richly adorned with a 5 x 5" square piece (rotated to resemble a diamond) of parquet signed by Red Auerbach in black marker. A Boston Garden brick on the lid reads "Boston Garden 1928-1995, Brick Number 7071." Included are photos of Auerbach signing the parquet and two LOAs. NRMT.
