Pop Lloyd, premier Negro League shortstop and baseball nomad, was promoted by many as the greatest player of all time. He was often com-pared to Honus Wagner. When Babe Ruth was asked to name "the greatest player anywhere" he said, "I'd pick John Henry Lloyd." He was elected to the hall of fame in 1977.
