Offered here is an exceptional color stone litho of the great boxing heavyweight champion James J. Corbett (1892-1897). Likely done around the time he took the crown from John L. Sullivan in 1892. A beautiful likeness of Corbett in period boxing attire in full fight pose. The color is bold. The strip at the bottom entitled, “James J. Corbett Champion Of The World” was likely added. 21 ?” x 28” framed to 26” x 32.” Several scratches on the frame, but the litho appears clean. You will go a long way to find a better portrayal of this great champion.
