At their first home game in Yankee Stadium in 1923, Babe Ruth hit a home run, and thus the “house” was built. In the mid-70’s, after a scarcity of World Series titles, renovation at the stadium saw the removal of this great porcelain sign, “Betting or Soliciting Bets Prohibited.” Small metal tag affixed to the upper left hand corner reads, “From Yankee Stadium, The House That Ruth Built, 50th Anniversary, 1923-1953.” Sign is in wonderful condition (EX), and was probably installed in the 1940's, when the Yankees were titling every other year. Measures 73 ? x 24”.
