Historic sphere is the actual first pitch ball from the game at Three Rivers Stadium on September 30, 1972. Some may have suspected that this day would yield Roberto Clemente's 3,000th career hit but no one was aware that this would be the day when number 3,000 would be the last of the legendary Clemente's regular season career. Official National League (Feeney) ball displays even use but remains in EX condition. On one panel in black paint is "ROBERTO CELEMTE Hit No. 3000". Underneath, Clemete has signed in 7/10 blue ballpoint pen. On another panel in black paint is "MILT RUTTENBERG NR Day at Three Rivers Satdium, Sept. 30, 1972". Mr. Rutttenberg was an executive with the company that sponsored the game and he had the honor of throwing out the first pitch. When the game was over this ball was immediatley lettered and signed by Clemente. It was then presented to Mr. Ruttenberg. There are two photos (framed) of Ruttenberg throwing the ball with his name on the scoreboard. Also, an original ticket from the game is matted between the two photos. LOA.
