Nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in 2004 for his work on the Historic NFL Record Breaking Rushing Title of Emmitt Smith, St. Angelo has traversed a professional photography career only dreamed about by aspiring photographers. He was awarded a Master of Photography in 1989 and traveled to China to instruct Chinese professional photographers in the American techniques and methods. He was selected by Nikon Camera in 2004 as one of their feature photographers and went with Troy Aikman to Las Vegas to address the International Photography assembly on his work with the Dallas Cowboys. In 2008 along with the 2nd Edition release of his bestseller book, “Texas Stadium Commemorative Edition” of “Greatest Team Ever”, he was selected to teach his techniques as an adjunct Professor of Photography at the prestigious Art Institute of Dallas. His work is on Permanent Exhibition at Dallas Cowboys Headquarters, both Texas Stadium and the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. One of his original works is currently on exhibit in the White House and acknowledged by President George W. Bush, Senator John McCain, and Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. His career in photography dates to his participating in creating the photography department at Beaumont High School in 1965 and continued through two tours of combat duty in Vietnam. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Gunner’s Mate and Boatswain on the USS Brinkley Bass, a Man-O-War Destroyer, and fought in the Tet Offensive in 1968. His work for the Dallas Cowboys has been published in countless books and magazines over his twenty-five year association with the Dallas Cowboys. Hired by Tex Schramm in 1979, he went on to photograph Tom Landry for his Official Hall of Fame Photograph and his work at Super Bowls XXVIII and XXX were chosen for the Official NFL Lithographs as the best photographs made at those two World Championship Title Games. There are over 100,000 slides and negatives in this collection. Without question, this is the best single team photographic archive to ever be offered at auction. The photographer’s rights to reproduce these images will be passed on to winning bidder.
