Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Delaware, Thomas McKean was a delegate to the Continental Congress throughout the Revolution, serving as President of that body in 1781. He eventually settled in Pennsylvania, where he served as Chief Justice (1777-99) and then as Governor (1799-1808) of the state. This original official Commonwealth of Pennsylvania document bears McKean's scribe in fountain ink on the top left side of the document directly above the wax seal. It rates a solid 9 out of 10 on a document that is in fine condition, with only some small spots of paper discoloration, folding creases and wrinkles evident on a nice and completely legible 200 year old piece.
