The 1971 World Series matched the defending champion Baltimore Orioles against the Pittsburgh Pirates with the Pirates winning in seven games. Game 4, played in Pittsburgh, was the first-ever World Series game scheduled to be played at night. The two teams proved to be evenly matched, as the Series went the full seven games, with the Pirates' pitching a complete game four-hitter in winning game seven (7), 2-1, against the Orioles. The Pirates' Roberto Clemente, who turned into a one-man gang in the Series, became the first Latino player to earn World Series MVP honors. This is a gorgeous miniature replica of the full-sized version of the World Series trophy. This scale model, from the Pirates 1971 World Series victory over the Orioles, stands a foot high at its tallest point and 7" in diameter. Gold pins are mounted to the black formica base, with a silver ball anchoring a golden arch tipped by a kingly crown. Gold pennants from every team ring the piece, which has a ring around the black base reading "World Series Champions Pittsburgh Pirates, 1971". The trophy is in overall EX condition.
