“The First Innings” baseball Stevengraph c.1870-80’s is a vibrant silk embroidery depicting an early baseball game in progress with the on looking crowd in the background along with American flags. The silk is in superb condition with orig. color, mount has a few light surface wrinkles. 5”x 8” matted, 2 x 6” for the silk panel: EX-MT. The piece has its rare original mount with titling and mfg. impression of Thomas Stevens, but the matting has had some paper loss and some of the manufacturing imprint has been covered with some type of adhesive brown paper; one corner of the matting is missing, there are several breaks and two pieces of paper pasted to the bottom left and right corners. The back also has scrapbook paper affixed to it with a 1910's baseball team photo on the scrapbook paper.
