What an incredible piece of American History. This is the actual proposal submitted by designer J.B. Strauss and San Francisco city engineer, M.M. O'Shaughnessy and was used to help educate city officials as well as the public about the proposed plans to build what at the time would be longest span on a suspension bridge in history, a crowning achievement for American engineering prowess. The proposal itself is 15 pages long and includes schematic drawings, charts and information pertaining to the economics behind the building of the bridge. It is bound in heavyweight brown cardstock, embossed with raised gold lettering which reads "Bridging The Golden Gate." The proposal which dates from sometime in the1920's is in EX condition with no damage to the cover or interior pages. There is some minor age discoloration concurrent with the age of the document. This is definitely one for the history and engineering buffs out there.
