UPDATE: The racquet and shirt do not originate from the 1991 US Open. Rather, they were used by Connors circa 1992
1991 was quite the year for Jimmy Connors. At the age of 39 he staged one of the greatest comebacks in tennis history and none was as impressive as his quarterfinal defeat of Aaron Krickstein in a 4+hour match after a 2-5 deficit in the final set. He did succumb in the semi-final round to French Open Champion Jim Courier but what an amazing end to a fantastic career in the sport of tennis. This lot includes the actual racquet he used during the open as well as the Nike air sneakers, the Jimmy Connors designed shirt and a U.S. Open sweatshirt. All of the items are autographed by Connors and the signatures rate in the range of 8.5 to 9 out of 10. The lot is accompanied by 4 short letters, 1 from Jimmy Connors and 3 from his coach and trainer Doug Henderson authenticating that these were all game used items. The quality and condition of the entire lot is EX and for tennis fans out there, in particular Jimmy Connors fans, this is an incredible lot showcasing the gear used by an American Champion in his final match.
