This large collection of wire photographs spans the career of baseball player/manager Fred Hutchinson. 20% of the images capture his early years, the late 1940’s and early 1950’s as a player for the Detroit Tigers, another 20% capture his years as a manger for the St. Louis Cardinals in the late 1950’s, and the remaining 60% capture his later years as manager of the Cincinnati Reds in the early 1960’s. The collection ranges in size from 6 x 8” to 8 x 10” with some odd in between sizes, more than 50% of the lot is 8 x 10”. The quality is in the VG/EX range with some having minor wrinkling and age toning to others which are quite pristine. Many of the images have the original new clippings attached to the verso.
