Wilmer “the Great” Field was one of the Negro League’s finest pitchers and 3rd basemen. This is a fine example of his signature, written in black ball point ink, which scores a 9 out of 10 for clarity. The signature is on a player’s contract for the Puerto Rican Winter League and is dated October 1, 1948. The contract is in EX/NRMT condition devoid of any wrinkles or folds, clean edges and no age discoloring, it is truly in outstanding shape for a document this age.
