Lot Description  

Walt Alston managed the Dodgers to their only World Series victory in Brooklyn in 1955. This collection of (35) images comes to us from the archives of the SF Examiner. They include shots of the Dodger skipper with many notables including Don Newcombe, Al Lopez, Rube Walker, Jim Bunning, Ford Frick, Casey Stengel, Walter O'Malley, Billy Herman, Buzzy Bavasi, Hank Bauer, and Catfish Hunter among others. Sizes are mostly in the 8” x 10” range and conditions vary from VG to EX-MT. There are several shots with his family members and one with Dodger VP Bavasi as Alston signed one of his famous 23 career one year contracts with the Dodgers.
