Not exactly a gold record Typed contract on "Perspective Records" letterhead agrees to pay a two-cent per album royalty (rip-off!) to the man who would make his famous catch a little over a month later. It is signed by Mays at bottom in perfect ink. But a pair of letters (included) to and from Mays' representative sings the blues, stating that they have "...sold less than 50 of the 'Amazin' Willie Mays' record and that royalties due Willie are under $1.00..." The Perspective Records exec concludes, "...Sorry that we won't be getting rich from this song--but it appears that baseball and music don't mix too well..." Some creasing and minor tearing, doing nothing to affect Mays' signature on the contract.
