Notorious spitball pitching HOFer Gaylord Perry is the subject of this collection of news service photos from the 1960's and 1970's. Sized from 7" x 9" to 8" x 11" and in VG-EX condition with some newspaper edit marks, these images chronicle the career of Mr. Perry. Perry is one of only 4 pitchers in history to have won the Cy Young award in both the American and National leagues. Three of the photos depict a 1969 sequence in which umpire Doug Harvey is at the mound, inspecting a ball for signs it was one of Perry's infamous spitballs. All he found on the ball was Warren Giles autograph! Perry was not actually ejected from a game for the offense until 1982, 21 years into his career!
