Tommy Burns held the world heavyweight title between 1906 and 1908, defending it a remarkable eleven times in those two years. He ultimately lost his title to Jack Johnson after becoming the first fighter willing to defend his heavyweight title against a black man. These (7) news service and SF examiner staff photos contain: a very early (circa 1910's) fight posed photo of Burns; a collectable 9x14" poster of Burns, also circa 1910's (G/VG); several photos reporting his twilight marriage to Nellie Venderlip in 1946. Besides the poster, photos range in condition from EX to MT. Sized from 4x8" to 9x14".
