Player manager Dolph Camilli is the subject of this photo collection (10) from the 1920's through 1940's. Dolph was a first baseman and power hitter for two decades in both the Pacific Coast League and Major League. He was named the National League MVP in 1941 after leading the league in both homers and RBI's. His Brooklyn Dodgers won the pennant but lost in five to the NY Yankees in the World Series that year. Photos size from 4" x 8" to 8" x 11". Most are in the VG range with some chips and rough edges. Some have been artfully enhanced. Key photo shows Camilli taking a cut at a pitch as a player-manager for the Pacific Coast League's Oakland Oaks in 1944. Catcher in the picture is LA Angels 16 year old sensation Bill Sarni. Sarni's career and life was cut short when he died of a heart attack as a member of the NY Giants in 1957 at age 29.
