Joe Louis’ exploits in the ring have been often chronicled, but they were certainly equaled by his participation in the war effort during World War II. Louis enlisted as a private in the Army and lent his name to countless exhibitions and fund raisers for the war effort. Louis also lent his image to the Army for this promotional poster used to instill pride in the American effort. Louis is pictured in uniform with rifle in hand and is quoted, “We’re going to do our part….and we’ll win because we’re on God’s side”. Printed in the early 1940’s this is the rare one sheet (26” x 42”) version. This paper poster has been professionally linen backed. The poster is clean and exhibits almost no flaws except some very light fading. Exceptional quality.
