When future heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis entered the ring at
Royal Albert Hall in London on November 5, 1989 he was already 4-0 as
a professional with all of his wins coming by way of knockout. His
opponent was Melvin Epps. After a dominating first round by Lewis,
Epps made the decision he could only win by fouling. As a result
referee Tony Walker stopped the fight in the second round and awarded
the fight to Lennox Lewis. Presented here are the actual fight worn
gloves used by Lennox Lewis in this bout against Melvin Epps. The
gloves are eight ounce, red leather which include the original laces.
They were made by Title and the manufacturing label is still intact.
Remnants of the tape used on the gloves still remains. The right
glove has been marked on the backhand, “DSQ2 MELVIN EPPS 5-0 LONDON” The left glove has been marked on the backhand, NOV. 5/89 and is signed boldly in black sharpie, Lennox Lewis. A great opportunity to
obtain fight worn gloves from arguably the best heavyweight champion
in the past twenty five years. There is an LOA from one of the
leading matchmakers in the world who obtained these gloves after the
fight. LOA from Craig Hamilton of JO Sports, Inc. who researched the
