This incredible authentic Plains Indian double-trailer bonnet is made of the highest quality in every detail. It is the most picturesque of any Indian War bonnets I’ve seen. War bonnets like this one were only used by the Tribes most exceptional warriors. Up for auction is the same style headdress as worn by the Native American Indian Tribes during the 1800s.This bonnet was completely hand-crafted by Jeff “Bluewater” Hopkins, a Cherokee Indian. All 174 large brown and white feathers are hand wrapped in red felt material- the preferred color of the Plains Indians. They are accented with breath feathers and adorned with genuine tufts of horsehair to the tips of the feathers. The deer skin trailer and skullcap has a beaded lazy stitch 2 ?” wide Brow Band and is fully hand beaded in red-white-blue. The temple areas have 3”round matching Rosettes in traditional geometric designs and are accented with beads with calico wrapped 12” hanging rabbit fur strips. Overall length is approx. 78”, width is approx. 24”. This headdress was on display in the lobby of the Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone National Park.
