Stunning, original cibachrome photograph of Marilyn Monroe kneeling in the sand by Andre de Dienes. # 18 in a limited edition of 91, the 11" x 14" photograph was obtained direct from the artist's wife (Shirley de Dienes), and is accompanied by an LOA from her. It was shot by de Dienes in 1949 on Tobay Beach, Long Island before Monroe achieved stardom. The same image, from the identical original negative but printed to 16x20", recently sold for $16,000 at auction. de Dienes met Monroe in 1945 when she was Norma Jean Baker. They were briefly engaged yet continued their photographic relationship through 1953. The relationship produced some of the most iconic images of Monroe, including a shoot for Playboy.
