On February 14, 1951 World Middleweight Champion Jake LaMotta defended his title against old nemesis Sugar Ray Robinson in Chicago. The fight became known as the St. Valentines Day Massacre after Robinson won the title from LaMotta and administered a terrific beating to Jake in the process. Offered here are the fight trunks used by Jake LaMotta in this fight. The trunks are black satin with white trim and sport an Everlast manufacturer’s label on the front center waistband. The trunks show wear, but remain in overall excellent condition. Following the fight LaMotta gave the trunks to his friend and fellow boxer, Pat Manzi. Manzi was known as “little Jake LaMotta” because of this fighting style. LaMotta gave him the trunks as kind of a joke telling Manzi he was giving them to him for luck even though they had brought him no luck. The trunks come with an LOA from Richard Manzi, the son of Pat Manzi. The trunks come with a photograph of Jake LaMotta wearing the trunks during his fight with Sugar Ray Robinson in 1951.
