The engraved plaque on this highly desirable record award reads, "Presented To The Beatles To Commemorate The Sale Of More Than One Million Copies Of The Capitol Records Pop Single Record Lady Madonna." Released on 3/23/68, the group's final single on the familiar yellow and swirl Capitol label was certified gold by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association Of America) a mere two weeks later on 4/8/68. The familiar Granny Smith apple would grace the label of the very next Beatle's release, "Hey Jude." This award is in exceptionally fine condition with the exception of a crease that appears in the lower left area of the small-holed label. It was re-glued to the disc in 1997. At that time a crack in the lower left corner of the glass necessitated replacement. A slight bit of tarnish on the disc itself was chemically treated as well. Very few Beatles awards displaying the small-holed label have ever appeared in the marketplace. This is your chance to own a lasting remnant from a pivotal year in the careers of the largest selling and most influential artists in rock history!
