A supplement to The Illustrated London News, this lot contains newspaper write-ups with photographic illustrations of the highlights of the London Olympic games of 1908. One section depicts the top finishers in the marathon. There in 9th place is one Lewis Tewanima, Jim Thorpe’s legendary track teammate at Carlisle. Just four years later, Thorpe would be the toast of the 1912 games in Stockholm earning him the title “world’s greatest athlete”. Tewanima memorabilia is very scarce. The supplement, on heavy newspaper stock, is in EX+ condition.
