On July 4, 1910 at Reno, Nevada, World Heavyweight Champion Jack Johnson stopped the "Great White Hope" challenger and former champion Jim Jeffries in one of the most celebrated fights in boxing history. Souvenirs from this fight are rare, but we have uncovered a fabulous pennant offered here. The pennant is red felt with green and gold trim including the original green tails and an ornate gold tassel at the opposite end. In gold lettering with an eagle between the names are the words, "JEFFRIES JOHNSON RENO-NEV." This is a particularly rare version of the souvenir pennants issued for this fight and may well be unique. 21" in length. Maintains bold color. Two very small moth holes.
