If you can believe it, there was a time when basketball was in question as a game safe enough for children to play. This is a letter written by the game’s inventor, Dr. James Naismith, in its’ defense. Naismith’s response is penned on the back and front of the actual type written letter he received. In it he lists four reasons that basketball is good for children: 1:“It is not a physical strain that some would have us believe.” 2: “It is always under control” 3: "There are rest periods” 4: “Underdeveloped and abnormal boys can be kept out of the game.” It’s pretty hard to argue with the inventor of the game! Letter is EX while all the writing is 8/10.
