One of the greatest heavyweight fights of all time, the November 3, 1899 bout betweeen Jim Jeffries and Tom Sharkey was hailed by one sportswriter as "99 minutes of hell." Jeffries won in a marathon 25 rounds. This is a collection of twelve 2-3/4" x 2-1/4" black and white Mutoscope photos from the match, each mounted to 3-1/4" x 3-1/4" with caption. They would have been viewed by fans in an arcade's coin operated Mutoscope, an early motion picture device that worked on the "flip book" principle. Overall EX condition with light surface wear and a few missing corners.
