At the tail end of his NBA career, Dominique Wilkins signed with the San Antonio Spurs for its 1996-97 season, surpassing all expectations by leading the team with an average 18.2 ppg, and proving this nine-time NBA all-star still had some “highlights” in him. This award was presented to Wilkins in light of his tremendous year, standing 19” and weighing in at nearly 10 pounds, it is gold-plated, with a marble base (slight crack on top) that has engraved on its gold band, “Victor Awards XXXI - Dominique Wilkins - NBA Comeback Player of the Year - Voted by the Academy of National Sports Media - City of Hope - 1997.” The olive wreath figure and marble base on which it stands are both loose, and, though solidly intact, rotate slightly. Includes LOA from Wilkins.
