As rare as a natural Hat Trick is this 1941-42 Stanley Cup Finals program.
Only the last place New York Americans did not make the playoffs in the
then-seven team NHL. The Toronto Maple Leafs climbed the ladder by
eliminating the first place Rangers in six games, earning them a bye into
the finals. When the dust cleared, the Leafs would face the Motor City's Red
Wings for the prized Cup. Detroit won the first three, putting the Leafs at
the brink. To shake things up, Coach Hap Day benched Gordie Drillon and
Bucko McDonald. It must have sent the right message as Toronto went on to
win four in a row, thus becoming the only team in NHL history to erase a
three game deficit to win a Cup final series. This Red Wings home game
program from games 3, 4, or 6 is complete and unscored. Great images of the
old Olympia and game action on the front cover. Overall excellent condition
with firm staples and spine. Consists of twenty pages including covers. A
truly historic hockey publication from a Cup finals result that has never
been duplicated again.
