True action photo (EX), this black and white Ty Cobb image is dynamic, with
blurred arms and swinging bat. Bittersweet remembrance, being this was the
last year, 1926, that the legend was with the Detroit Tigers as a
player/manager. He went on to play two more seasons with the Philadelphia
Athletics after a controversy in late 1926, involving the Cleveland Indians
player/manager Tris Speaker and allegations of the two managers fixing a
game, rushed his retirement from the Tigers. With the exception of four
small filled-in blemishes on left side of photo, this is in fine shape.
Measures 6 1Z2 x 9", with an Acme wire photo stamping on the back. An
appropriate swan song memento.
