Mantle is seen in the locker room shortly after he sustained the knee injury that would haunt him throughout his career. He and Dimaggio were both in pursuit of a fly ball during the 1951 World Series when Mantle, at the request of Joe, pulled off. As he slowed his chase his foot became caught in a drain and the rest is history. Associated Press Newsphoto stamp. Original paper caption. NRMT. 7x9”.
