In each of the three cities that the Braves franchise would call home, Eddie Mathews found himself surrounded by an ever-growing base of adoring fans the likes of which few professional athletes have ever experienced. They had all come to know and love the hard-hitting third baseman, either by first hand account or his ever growing legend, and he in turn would never disappoint. From his time as a heavily recruited high school prospect to his later years in Atlanta he was always there when the franchise needed him most and always impressive in his actions. For those reasons and many more we are proud to offer his 1964 game worn "home" jersey. "Braves" crosses the front above his number "41" in red-on-blue tackle twill, while "41" stands alone on the reverse where it was once joined by "Mathews" (now removed). The team's "Screaming Indian" logo patch is the only other adornment on the outer shell, with the exception of the blue piping that trims the button placket. Inside the collar is a white felt plate, chain-stitched with "Mathews 64-Set 2" and on the tail is a Wilson manufacturers [size] "42" tag. An incredible Hall of Fame caliber specimen with just the right amount of game use!
