There are signed jerseys, and then there is a one-of-a-kind, truly home-spun and intimate signed jersey. This 1960s Detroit Red Wings game worn jersey is such a gem, featuring the number "21" carefully removed from the sleeves and reverse. Its creation for the Great One stems back to when a young Gretzky once said that he wanted to be a Red Wing just like Gordie Howe. So, in his early days with the NHL (circa 1981) the folks in the Detroit locker rooms took an old Red Wings game used jersey and made it into a number 99. They then hung it in Wayne's locker stall the next time that the Oilers came to town. Wayne loved the jersey and signed it on the back in 9/10 pen "Wayne Gretzky 99." This is the jersey that was made for Wayne, and is a one of a kind Wayne Gretzky collectible. Jersey has several team repairs and some board and stick marks from its use in the 1960s. Home jersey has Red Wings crest (replaced) and number changed to 99 on back and the arms. Small Olympic Sporting Goods and size 48 tags in the collar.
