The World League of American Football offered Spring football for only two years, 1991-1992, but was sponsored by the NFL. The new league was viewed as an opening to new markets, a developmental league for NFL players and an experimental platform for new rules and strategies, such as the 2-point conversion rule, later adopted by the NFL. With the addition of QB Scott Mitchell in 1992, the Orlando Thunder became a top contender, taking an 8-2 season and decisive playoff win into the World Bowl, where the team lost a hard fought 21-17 battle to Sacramento. This size 10 1/2 10 karat ring was awarded to wide receiver Willie Davis, who spent one year at Orlando between tours with the Kansas City Chiefs. The ring has a central cz mounted on a black stone, circled by 12 smaller stones and “Orlando Thunder / 1992 / World Bowl”. One shank depicts a football helmet with the number “86”, below “Davis”. The other shank has “Receiver” above the team logo and “World League”. The inside band is inscribed “Davis - June 6, 1992” with “10 K” and manufacturer stampings. The ring is NRMT.
