The 1972 Oakland A’s won their first World Series, a 7-game squeaker over the upcoming Cincinnati Reds, due in large part to superb and tenacious pitching. Their legendary staff consisted of Catfish Hunter, Ken Holtzman, Vida Blue, Blue Moon Odom, and starter turned master reliever, Rollie Fingers. Along with manager Dick Williams, the person most responsible for developing the staff was veteran pitching coach “Barnacle” Bill Posedel. This outstanding size 10 1/2 Jostens 10K World Series ring was awarded to Posedal following the Oakland victory. A huge and beautifully cut 6mm genuine diamond is set in a diamond-shaped mount upon a green cabochon, circled by “World Champions 1972”. On one shank, “Oakland” appears above the A’s seal and “Posedel”. On the other shank, “World Series” appears above “A’s 4 - Reds 3” an inscribed signature of owner Charles O. Finley, and “S + S = S”. Stamped inside the band are “Jostens” and “10K”. This wonderful ring has only been lightly used, is still in its original green plush box, and in NRMT condition.
