Timing truly is EVERYTHING! Four years into his professional career Don Larsen had found himself on his third team, with a career win total that furrowed more eyebrows than it managed to raise. Though with one single victory this once unknown became an immortal. On October 8, 1956, only days after being knocked out in the second inning of Game Two, started Game Five of the World Series against the rival Dodgers at Yankee Stadium. Armed with a new, no wind-up, delivery he set down 27 Dodgers in a row, outdueling Sal Maglie and winning 2-0 for the first no-hitter in Series history. It is an achievement that to this day has yet to be equaled and rarely challenged. Offered is an Official National League (Giles) baseball used during that historic game and signed by Larsen himself directly on the sweet spot (7/10). Handwritten also in pen by Larsen is "Perfect Game-World Series vs. Brooklyn", "Oct. 8, 1956", "0-0-0", and "Yankees Stadium". Although the game was held in Yankee Stadium, both National and American League balls were used and interchanged during the entire World Series. Detailed LOA from from the son of the original recipient, who was in charge of the World Series post-game television interviews, and had Larsen sign this very ball (along with his scorecard from the game) after the Perfect Game.
