Renowned baseball photographer George Burke captured this stunning image of Arky Vaughan during the HOF shortstop's years in Pittsburgh under the watchful eye of his coach and mentor Honus Wagner. Few reminders of Vaughan still exist today, for shortly after the nine time All-Star and 1935 NL Player of the Year retired, tragedy struck when he was killed during a fishing trip after his boat capsized. Overall the 4"x 6" photo is in EX condition with some minor cracking to the finish on the front surface and tape marks on the reverse. A portion of the "George Burke" stamp is visible at the bottom on the reverse. His rare black fountain pen signature grades a "9" out of possible "10".
