If you didn't already know and you had to guess who the only pitcher to ever throw a perfect game in the World Series was, Don Larsen might be number 18,756 on your list of guesses. More likely, not even that high. After all, his career record consisted of 81 wins and 91 losses. One season he won 3 and lost 21. No doubt his rumored late night antics and drinking played a role in his less than stellar career numbers. In his next-to-last regular season start in 1956, Larsen unveiled his no-windup delivery and shut out the Boston Red Sox. Asked why he went to the unorthodox delivery, he answered, "The ghouls sent me a message." It was this new delivery acquired from the ghouls that got him his perfect game. Ball was obtained right after the game by former NBA player, Moose Miller. Miller was a good friend of Tom Gorman, one of the umpires who worked the field for the perfect game. Gorman gave the ball to Moose right after the game and got it signed in blue ball point in the locker room, by Larsen and losing pitcher, Sal Maglie. Official NL ball (Giles). Although the game was held in Yankee Stadium, both National and American League balls were used and interchanged during the entire World Series. Detailed LOA from Moose Miller. Signatures are 7/10. Comes with an additional Letter of Authenticity from Don Larsen himself!
