On August 5, the Cardinals were 10 games behind the Dodgers and anyone would have taken your bet on their prospects. But a splendid late season rally brought victory by two games at the end. And anyone would have gladly taken your money on the prospect of the young St. Louis upstarts prevailing over the fearsome New York Yankees, a team which had won every one of the eight World Series they had played since 1926. But history shows that the Cards won the Series in five games, and that this was accomplished by better pitching (2.60 ERA vs. 4.50), but mostly by timely hits, producing 23 RBI vs. 14 for the Yanks. This Spalding Official National League Ball is wonderfully signed by the Cardinals team, and fine signatures of Musial, Slaughter, Marion, Southworth, Moore, both Coopers, Lanier, Beazley, Kurowski, Walker and 13 other Cardinals will be found on the incredible ball. Signatures range from 5/10 to 9/10, mostly 7s. The ball itself is in especially nice condition, rating a creamy NRMT. We'd mentioned that the Yankees last World Series loss was in 1926... against the Cards.
