From 2001’s N.L. Rookie of the Year, to 2005’s NLCS Most Valuable Player, Albert Pujols short, amazing trip in the Major Leagues has kept baseball fans in awe, and St. Louis Cardinals fans beholden. After the previous year’s World Series run (losing to the charmed Boston Red Sox), you can’t fault first baseman Pujols’ for not trying to bring his Cardinals back for another October attempt in 2005, especially after his three-run homer in the ninth inning against the Houston Astros in Game Five of the National League Championship. That single hit alone kept the hope alive, and although the Cardinals lost to the Astros in the last game, Pujols brought home the N.L. Series' MVP prize. This awesome St. Louis Cardinals game worn jersey was part of Pujols’ stellar 2005 season. Signed in black sharpie (10/10) by Prince Albert himself on the back under his red and black nameplate, and above his bold, red #5. The button-down front carries the famous St. Louis logo - those beautifully embroidered, yellow-beaked red cardinals balancing on a yellow bat. Tail tagging by Majestic Authentic, size 50, with flag tag “2005”. Left sleeve carries patch celebrating “Busch Stadium, Final Season, 1966-2005”. Light use jersey was given to Arizona Diamondback Javier Vazquez to auction off for a charitable foundation in Puerto Rico.
