In 1920, Happy Felsch was banned for life from baseball for his role in the infamous 1919 “Black Sox” World Series; Charlie Sheen played his character in the movie “Eight Men Out.” His truncated career with the White Sox began in 1915, and Felsch was a solid centerfielder and run-producer. This outstanding photograph, truly the best we’ve ever seen, was taken on August 31, 1920, and his face expresses the concerns that were undoubtedly weighing upon him, with less than a month remaining of his baseball career. The photograph measures 5” x 7” overall, with an image size of 3 ?” x 5 ?”, and has a reverse stamping from the Bain News Service, as well as player name and date. Condition is EX with one corner chipped and another slightly dogeared, but with both affecting only the border.
