A wonderfully candid picture of NY Giants manager John McGraw, standing beside Broadway and motion picture actor Edward H. Robins, who is wearing Christy Mathewson’s last uniform. “Big Six” retired in 1916, and this picture dates to the 1920’s. McGraw managed the Giants from 1902-1932, with his teams winning 10 pennants and playing in 3 World Series. Robins had a lengthy tour on Broadway, appearing in both dramas and musicals, including such hits as the long-running first production of “Of Thee I Sing”, with music by George Gershwin. This 7” x 5” photo has a deaccession stamp from Culver Pictures and a detailed handwritten caption on the reverse. Condition is EX-MT.
