Look out! Look out! He’s got a bucket of water. Oh, it’s confetti. Marques Haynes was the world’s greatest dribbler. No one even came close. He spent over 40 years entertaining children of all ages, first with the Harlem Globetrotters (1947-53, 1972-79) and then the Magicians (1953-72, 1983-92). Haynes led his college team Langston in scoring all four years he attended and led them to an unbelievable record of 112-3. He left the Globetrotters in 1953 because of a contractual disagreement with Abe Saperstein and started the Magicians and toured with them for 18 years before rejoining the Globetrotters as player/coach in 1972. Goose Tatum was the original “clown prince” of basketball but don’t sell his basketball abilities short. He had an arm span of more than 80” and is credited with inventing the hook shot. Two great players and entertainers who made everyone smile. Poster (approx. 14 X 22”) announces the Magicians taking on the College All Stars in Scottsbluff, Nebraska in October of 1966. Take it home and it will make you smile too.
